Inside The Crofter’s House
Haarkon (October 2016)

Highland Hideaway
Scotland on Sunday (May 2016)

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Crofter’s House. It was immaculate, cosy and full of charm. All amenities are provided and we lucked out with glorious weather, and the house was light and bright in the morning with all the skylights and windows (with lovely views). In the evening, the woodburner made it cosy and warm which was lovely. The Crofter’s House is situated above a small bay in beautiful scenery – we even saw seals! It’s a short drive from Portree, with The Old Man of Storr above, and in the other direction Carbost and the Talisker distillery aren’t far either – for us it was a great location whilst feeling private and tucked away. Overall, we highly recommend staying here!

Cannot recommend the The Crofter’s House enough. Perfect location, beautiful little space, and just enough of everything for a stay on Skye. Would absolutely stay again in a heartbeat.

From the subtle design of the home, to the wandering sheep in the yard, to the simple walk to the shore with the most breathtaking view of the stars… The Crofter’s House was absolutely incredible and set the perfect tone for our stay on Skye.

I can’t imagine there’s anywhere more beautiful or stylish to stay on Skye. We had the happiest time in front of the fire morning and night. The house is a short walk to an almost deserted cove full of curious seals who pop up their heads to say hello. It’s a perfect base for exploring Skye, the only issue is that you’ll never want to leave the house! Can not recommend this place enough. If you find it free for your dates – book it quick. It’s very very special.
Thank you for having us x

The Crofters House was soooo perfect. Hidden away down a windy road, with a nice little walk down to the sea loch. It had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing getaway! For us the stay was extra special since we got engaged!!! I couldn’t be happier to have that memory at the Crofters House. Can’t wait to stay in the future and would highly recommend it to any couple wanting to enjoy the Isle of Skye.

The Crofter House is just perfection… Ideally situated at a 5 min walk from a beautiful bay where seals like to play, the perfect starting point to see everyhting on this magical Isle of Skye. The place is super clean and beautiful; fits perfectly the description. Sarah is a lovely host, taking care through e-mails. I definitely recommend the Crofter House! You’ll fall in love with it and its surroundings. We’ll be back without a doubt ! We were heartbroken to leave it…Thank you for these magical and beautiful moments.

Incredible romantic bolthole on Skye. Beautiful design, everything you could need for a short break. OS maps and a short walks guide available in the house with great suggestions to make the most out of the surroundings. The location is amazing, far enough from anything that we managed to see the Milky Way it was so dark, yet only 5 miles to Portree for supplies and dinner if you want a night off from cooking! The Restaurant in the Bosville Hotel was fantastic too. Can’t wait to go back and stay a bit longer next time!

We stayed for a week, but wish we could’ve stayed longer. Beautifully presented cottage in a perfect location – central, but just out of the way enough to be totally peaceful and quiet. No road noise and streetlights – you’ll sleep perfectly. The place has a cosy stove, large double bed, Scandi-furniture and all the accoutrements you’d possibly need for a perfectly relaxed holiday in Skye. Highly recommended. We’ll stay here again when we come back to Skye.

This was the dream place to stay on our honeymoon. We loved the house and how central is was to Portree. if you are looking for your Scotland fairytale this place is it. Sarah was responsive and organized and the fire was an incredible plus. We would recommend Loch Bay for dinner (soooo good). Hiking is everywhere, but we did the Quiraing (if you like hiking don’t just do the view point, go all the way into the park for a truly epic view) And while you are in that park of town check out Single Track for coffee and cakes. (Their soup was also superb) Thanks Sarah for the amazing trip!

The Crofter’s House is an exceptional place to stay. A short drive from the conveniences of Portree in a secluded village, the house was exactly as described. Sarah has thought of everything you might need for your stay, the space is beautifully designed with high quality furnishings, and it was warm and cosy with a number of heaters and a wood fire. If that wasn’t enough, we saw an otter messing about in the bay, and a hedgehog trundling past the window. We’d heartily recommend The Crofter’s House as a base to explore the island, and hope to come back again soon.

The Crofter’s House is by far one of the nicest places I have stayed on my travels. It’s a beautiful old cabin remodelled with modern appliances and furniture and has everything you need for a stay in Skye. It was the best being able to stay in during the cold days and have a fire in the wood burning stove. A lovely place! You have to go!!

Thank you for such a wonderful, well considered place. The Crofter’s House is such a cosy, characterful and homely place. I would say the best place we’ve ever stayed.

What a haven of peace! The house is cosy, extremely beautiful, very well decorated in Scandinavian style. Everything is thought in detail. The setting around the house is beautiful – we saw deer and on the last day a group of seals were happily playing in the water on the beach near by! The kitchen is very well equipped. The weather was warm so we didn’t use the fireplace, the electric heating worked perfectly. The house is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. What can I say! Just perfect!!

What a magical four days. Skye is such a wonderful place and coming back to this beautiful cottage has been like coming home. After a day of exploring and walking, experiencing weather of all descriptions, coming in to a lovely, comfortable house has been bliss. Sitting by the window, comparing photos, playing scrabble with a good bottle of wine and listening to the owls hoot… just heaven. The cottage has everything we needed. Thank you for all the details that made our stay here absolutely perfect.

Wow – The Crofter’s House is a perfect Scandi-styled haven in Skye, close enough to Portree to eat at the lovely Dulse & Brose, secluded enough to watch sunrise on the little bay with just a seal for company! The house is beautifully appointed with every element considered for both function and aesthetics, the perfect base for exploring and enjoying Skye!

We loved the house when we first saw it on the website, and we loved it so much more when we stepped in. A tiny cottage, refurbished carefully with love and thought. No-nonsense furnishings, but everything useful and effective (such as the selected DVD-collection of ‘oh-that’s-a-film-I-always-wanted-to-see-again’- stuff, which we didn’t, had no time) and kitchen knives that were sharp!

The Crofter’s House was the most amazing place to stay, it is an absolute gem in a great location, very close to Portree in a very quiet hamlet with a wonderful bay at the bottom of the road and good access to the rest of the island.

The house has been done to a very high standard with an extremely well equipped kitchen. It’s such a cosy little cottage which I could not recommend highly enough for couples who want to experience Skye in such luxury with your own space to relax at the end of a Scottish summer’s day.

Amazing place, absolutely one of a kind. I was there for ten days on my own and it was total tranquility. Can’t recommend highly enough. Perfect location on Skye, super close to all amenities but also quiet, peaceful and a world apart. Great access to all of the island via A87. I had a wonderful time.

The place is gorgeously appointed and has a fantastically well stocked kitchen – such care taken with all the details, nothing missing, and no clutter either. Sarah was a perfect host, generous and communicative. I could have easily stayed another week at least.

Classic crofter’s cottage with a minimalist chic makeover – soft colours, designer lighting – surrounded by peace; a romantic hideaway.

A quiet bay, soft green hills, big skies, a single-track road… The views from this whitewashed 19th-century crofter’s cottage are as peaceful and calm as it gets. But that doesn’t mean it’s back-to-basics. Although traditional on the outside, inside the cottage is stylishly cool with a Scandi-design touch. White tongue-and-groove panelled walls and open-raftered ceilings create luminous, airy spaces.

Step straight into a small but perfectly formed, bright and contemporary kitchen. Move up two steps into a wood-floored living space carefully set with Danish-style furniture, wood and peat-burning stove and designer lighting. Limited edition prints and shots of colour add warmth; the deepset window adds cosiness. The bedroom is beautifully uncluttered with soft grey colours and simple furnishings; the pretty bathroom crisp and shiny. There’s a useful outhouse (with washer and drier) for bike storage and clothes drying; this is Skye, remember.

Come here to walk, cycle, take photos, wildlife-spot – there’s a small front garden, terrace and a meadow. Or explore Portree, 5 miles. Peace and tranquillity guaranteed.

The Crofter’s House provided a perfect base for our stay on Skye. The house is beautifully designed and extremely well-equipped. We felt totally at home whilst there.

The location is wonderful – nestled in a small village, providing peace and tranquility, but just a short drive from amenities.

A stay in Sarah’s beautiful cottage comes highly recommended. We very much hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful time at Sarah’s Crofter’s Cottage. The location is amazing, tucked away in a sheltered bay not far from Portree and the cottage is wonderful.

If you appreciate design you will surely enjoy experiencing Sarah’s design touches, from the simplistic style to the beautiful paintings and furnishings. And, of course, a wood or peat burning stove.

The place is really well equipped and Sarah is really communicative and helpful. I really recommend the cottage as a standout location.
